Good questions
Before you begin.
Should a puppy wear a collar or a harness?
Either can work. Many owners like a harness for small or squirmy puppies. A trainer can help you fit it and explain what to use during lessons.
When can we start leash walks outside?
Often once your veterinarian says the vaccine plan allows it. Until then, you can build skills indoors, in the garage and in your own yard.
Why does my puppy sit down and refuse to walk?
New places can be overwhelming. Shorter trips, treats and a calm pace usually help, and a trainer can look at your puppy's body language in person.
What about rain gear and umbrellas?
Practice with them at home. Many puppies startle at flapping jackets and umbrellas, and they are common on Washington sidewalks.
